Top chef Adam Liaw spoke to Foodiful's Hannah Oakshott and revealed the secrets to serving up irresistible Asian dishes.
As a father of two, Adam knows what it's like to balance a busy schedule with the need to get food on the table. Going through your local supermarket's Asian food aisle can seem like a mad, confusing dash unless you know what you're looking for. Thanks to this list, you know exactly what you need, and quick Asian favourites will be ready in no time.
Adam Liaw's 5 Asian pantry must-haves:
Fish sauce
Oyster sauce
Soy sauce
Coconut cream
Red curry paste
These three dishes are fast, simple, and always a winner:
Stir Fry: “Oyster sauce is a must-have – a stir fry is the best family meal. I like it best when you add chicken and kale," Adam said. In fact, it's so easy it can be summarised in a sentence. "Fry onion and garlic, add chicken, oyster sauce and kale.”
Quick red curry: “The kids will love it, even though you wouldn’t think a curry would be a good kid’s meal. If you include less curry paste and bolster the flavour with fish sauce, it's a winner. You can stir through beef or roast chicken.”
Teriyaki chicken: “It’s an easy, classic, great weeknight meal – and best of all, it’s only a 5-minute dish.”
